OdySea Aquarium Scottsdale - A Must See Family Destination

By Veronica Leon, publisher February 24, 2017

During a recent trip to OdySea Aquarium, we spent time exploring this family destination, and it was one of my kids' favorite places. There is a little bit of everything at OdySea Aquarium, which makes it work for a wide variety of ages. The exhibits focus on learning, as well as fun and interaction.

OdySea Aquarium offers an entertaining, interactive, and educational experience. You journey through unique environment teeming with animals and plant life to explore. The aquarium includes a 3D theater, SeaTREK underwater ocean walking and a one of a kind voyage through the Living Sea Carousel! And check this out - an underwater bathroom with a window to the shark tank!

After my kids touched fish to their heart's content, we went in to check out the 3D Movie Experience. This 10 minute 3D movie takes you on a journey with ocean giants. You experience the majesty of a family humpback whales as they fly through the water preparing to hunt a school of fish and the thrill of staring into the deep mouth of a whale shark. The movie itself was entertaining and educational. Paired with the 3D visuals, the kids and I enjoyed the movie.

Next we moved on to the rest of the aquarium and headed to the Living Sea Carousel. Just take a seat and let it move you (literally) through each exhibit. Its a 20 minute thrilling experience and a one-of-a-kind voyage with sea lions, sharks and turtles.

If you end up at the aquarium for the whole day, which is definitely possibly, they have several dining options with an inside sit-down café and a variety of places in the courtyard outside.
While OdySea Aquarium is one of the pricier aquarium attractions, its large number of exhibits and wide variety of activities makes it appealing to most ages and well worth the price.

Located in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, OdySea Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the Southwest, spanning 200,000 square feet. The two-level facility holds more than 2 million gallons of water and accommodates up to 10,000 visitors daily. With over 50 exhibits and 500 different species, there are more than 30,000 animals that call OdySea home.

I was also pleasantly surprised at the facilities surrounding the Aquarium....many restaurants, shops, laser tag and more! Plan to spend several hours having lunch, watching live entertainment and visiting the nearby Dolphinarus and Butterfly Wonderfuland.
