The story of Modern Milk and Taking Cara Babies dates back to 2005 when two Labor & Delivery nurses meet in the hospital. Stephanie and Cara immediately become great friends. As they journey together through marriage, babies, grad school, certifications, and life- they realize they both share a passion for making a difference in the lives of new moms-educating, encouraging, and empowering them.
Today, Modern Milk and Taking Cara Babies, combines 27 years of nursing experience to help women transition into motherhood as smoothly as possible. Cara and Stephanie’s desire is to share knowledge gained through their profession to help others thrive in motherhood instead of just “survive”. Stephanie Nguyen, founder of Modern Milk, is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, mom of two girls and your new "breast" friend. Stephanie provides prenatal breastfeeding classes, in-home consultations, and custom breastfeeding plans. Stephanie is dedicated to helping moms have a successful and enjoyable breastfeeding experience. Her expertise coupled with her gentle, yet knowledgeable approach is unparalleled.
Cara Dumaplin, founder of Taking Cara Babies, is a Registered Nurse, Newborn Care Specialist, and Sleep Consultant. Cara is a mom of four and wife to a pediatrician. Cara helps families get the sleep they so desperately need. She truly believes a rested family lends itself to the most effective bonding possible. Taking Cara Babies educates expectant parents regarding healthy sleep habits from the beginning. Furthermore, for those who have a baby under age 2 who isn’t sleeping through the night, Cara guides these families through the journey of achieving 11-12 hours of sleep per night. She is the live textbook all parents desire when facing sleep deprivation.
